Replacement Windows Northern Virginia: Cost-Saving Benefits

Replacement windows are among the most popular home improvement projects in Northern Virginia today. That’s because most original windows installed by new home builders are typically builder-grade economy-priced windows that do a poor job of maintaining indoor temperatures. The problem is, low-quality windows lead to excessive heating and cooling costs because they let too much indoor heat escape in the winter and too much cool air escape out the windows in the summer.

Paul Henry’s Windows Customer Review

Ed Taylor, Pastor, Amissville Baptist Church

When Ed Taylor, Pastor of Amissville Baptist Church in Amissville, Virginia, decided to replace 27 windows in his Rixeyville VA home earlier this year, he did the smart thing and sought competitive quotes from three different local windows contractors.

After interviewing all three companies, Taylor chose Paul Henry’s Window Installation, Inc. in Culpeper, Virginia for their home improvement project.

Best Quality Replacement Windows

“Paul’s prices were right in the middle — not the lowest priced and not the highest priced. But the quality of Paul Henry’s windows was clearly superior to both the higher and the lower priced products,” Taylor says.

Before making a final decision, Taylor also sought recommendations from friends, family and church members. “Without exception, everyone I talked with spoke highly of Paul Henry’s Windows and recommended them.”

He is very nice, very professional, and he knows his products. What I especially like is that he never pressures you into making a buying decision. He isn’t pushy at all. He told me he was ready to work with us ‘whenever you’re ready’.”

“Paul’s crew also does a fantastic job. They lay down cloths wherever they work so they don’t mess up your floors. They take their time to do quality work. If they see something that needs fixing, they make sure and fix it. For example, on our windows, they saw some rotten wood that needed to be repaired before they installed the new windows, and they took care of that.”

He and his wife also appreciate the latching hardware on the windows, which are stylish with rounded corners and make it easy to open and close the windows and without getting their fingers pinched.

Lifetime Labor Warranty For Replacement Windows

Taylor also is impressed with Paul Henry’s lifetime labor warranty. “If a window breaks any time during its lifetime, he will replace the window without charging us for the labor.”
Taylor has brought Paul Henry back to do other work as well. “We had him back just last week to wrap the fascia and soffits on our storage building. Now we’ll never have to paint them again, either!”

Can Replacement Windows Really Save You Money?

Are you wondering whether investing in new replacement windows can really save you money?

Jay and Jean Priest of Locust Grove, Virginia, say they are seeing real savings on their cooling bills after Paul Henry installed new energy-saving windows in their home earlier this year.

“In the hottest months of 2010, our monthly cooling bill was just under $300 per month,” says Jay. “This year, during the hottest summer months, our cooling bills are averaging $210-220 per month — or about $80-90 per month less than we were paying before we replaced our windows.”

It’s too soon to tell how much money the new windows will save them on heating costs in the coming winter months — but based on their summertime savings, the Priests expect to see some savings in their winter heating costs this year as well.

The Priests first met Paul Henry at a home and garden show a few years ago.  When they realized the original windows on their home were wearing out, the Priests obtained quotes from several replacement window contractors.

Paul Henry’s quote was not the lowest, but “you get what you pay for,” says Jay.  ”The features in our new windows are definitely worth the price we paid.  During tropical storm conditions this past summer, when we had high sustained winds of 60 MPH, we felt absolutely no drafts or air coming in through the new windows whatsoever.  By comparison, the seals on the old windows we did not replace were completely gone, and I had to put caulking around those windows to keep air from coming through.”

Asked about Paul Henry’s customer service, Jay says it is “outstanding.  What sets Paul Henry apart is his knowledge of the product. I was also extremely impressed by Paul’s installation team.  Each crew member knew exactly what they were doing, even how to deal with the security wiring built into our old windows.  They were able to repair water damage caused by the old windows without tearing up our house, and all his employees seem happy to be working for Paul — and when employees are happy working for their employer, that tells you a lot about the character of the company.”
