U-Factor 
Insulating Value

U-Factor measures how well a product prevents heat from escaping. U-Factor ratings generally fall between 0.20 and 1.20. The lower number, the better.

To qualify for the tax credit, the U-Factor must be .30 or lower.

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient
 (SHGC)

The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient  (SHGC) is a measurement of how well a window blocks heat from sunlight.

SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1, which translates to the percentage of heat from the sun that enters through a window. The lower the number, the better.

To qualify for the tax credit, the SHGC must be 0.30 or lower.
